NEWS FEATURED IN THIS CAST:
The West Virginia National Cemetery has served around 184,000 veterans, as reported on Thursday. The US Department of Veterans Affairs, who aim to support veterans and families of veterans, has over 147 national cemeteries. Two of these are located in Grafton, West Virginia. The National Cemetery Association provides these heroes and their families with an honorable burial ground to recognize their service to this great country. The staff there have all served in the military. Grafton holds the longest ongoing annual Memorial Day celebration in the country, first decorating the graves of soldiers in 1867. They are getting ready for veteran’s day which is on November 11th.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department received a rather interesting call back on October 22nd. A man reported that one Daniel Burkwit of Huron, confessed to having found his dead mother at the bottom of the cellar stairs and panicking. Burkwit also told the man, his neighbor, that he didn’t know what to do so he dragged the body into the woods and buried her. Deputies did find the body in the woods covered with leaves. Daniel Burkwit was contained for questioning but quickly released. The next day, he was arrested for trespass and harassment involving the neighbor. Marcia Burkwit’s body was taken to the Willard Scott Funeral Home in Webster where she can finally prepare to rest in peace. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded Burkwit did die of a broken neck. There is an ongoing investigation as to whether or not the break is consistent with a fall down the cellar stairs. This does not seem likely as one source learned that Daniel Burkwit made a statement to a relative. Quote: “You made me live with that witch, I had to kill her.” He has since gotten himself a lawyer and will not cooperate with authorities.
BONUS NEWS STORY:
(It couldn't fit in the byte.)
Seven members of the Navy Seal Team 6, including one involved in the killing of Osama bin Laden, have been disciplined for allegedly disclosing classified information. These accusations came after they worked as paid consultants for a video game company producing "Medal of Honor: Warfighter." Although they and four others are being punished, they are still on active duty. They received what is known as non-judicial punishment on Wednesday. The main platform against the seals is that they did not ask permission of their command to take part in the video game project and that they showed specially designed combat equipment to the designers. These were violations of their orders.
